Coworking spaces, costs, internet, and the honest truth about working from Malta
Malta doesn't appear on every digital nomad list — and that's exactly why it should be on yours. EU territory, English-speaking, stable internet, 300 sunny days, and tax advantages for non-domiciled residents. It's a legitimate remote work destination with more infrastructure than you'd expect.
Inspire (Mosta and Birkirkara) — Malta's largest coworking network. Good infrastructure, dedicated desks, meeting rooms. Approx. €150–250/month for a hot desk.
TechHub Malta (Valletta) — community-oriented, startup vibe. Good if you want to meet founders and investors.
WeWork Malta (Tigne Point, Sliema) — premium, expensive (€300+), but elegant with harbour views.
Cafés with reliable WiFi:
EU citizens: no visa, full rights, just register after 3 months (e-Residence at Identity Malta).
Non-EU: Malta doesn't have a dedicated digital nomad visa (unlike Estonia or Croatia). Options: Schengen 90-day stay, then plan accordingly. The Global Residence Programme is an option for longer stays with minimum income requirements.
Active Facebook groups: "Digital Nomads in Malta", "Expats in Malta". Meetups and networking events regularly happen in Sliema and St Julian's.
The community is real but not large — this isn't Bali or Chiang Mai with thousands of nomads. More like a few hundred at any given time. Which is a feature, not a bug: you can actually meet people.
