Elephant Rock — a natural rock arch shaped like an elephant, one of Comino's most photographed spots. Marine erosion sculpted it over thousands of years.
On Comino's southern coast, where cliffs plunge straight into the sea, stands a rock formation that uncannily resembles an elephant drinking water from the sea. The natural rock arch forms the "trunk," and the massive block — the "head." It's one of Comino's most famous views.
Elephant Rock was created through thousands of years of erosion. Sea and wind carved out softer limestone, leaving the harder core in a shape that happened to resemble an animal. Geologists warn the formation isn't eternal — cracks in the rock suggest the arch could collapse within decades, just as the Azure Window on Gozo did in 2017.

Salt pond overlook — natural salt pans that attract rare migratory birds in spring. Paradise for birdwatchers and nature photographers.
